A-East Ground Load Project (AEGL)
Studio Completiva was hired by HNTB, the Architect of Record, for assistance with the construction contract administration (CCA) phase of the Denver Airport A-Concourse East expansion / renovation known as the A-East Ground Load (AEGL) project. Our tasks include preparation of field observation notes and site reports twice a week, attendance at weekly OAC and team coordination meetings, processing and stamping of RFI and submittals reviewed by the team’s consultants, assisting with issuing new bulletins and other guidance to the contractor, and participation in weekly site walks to review structural and architectural issues with the construction team.
The construction project at Concourse A-East is comprised of four packages:
Package 1: South Finger Renovation and Expansion
This construction package reorganized back-of-house spaces for crews, pilots, and airport staff. It renovated existing restrooms, added two elevators, replaced two escalators, and renovated existing gate hold rooms.
Additionally, it included construction of an airline maintenance building with vehicle and material storage canopies on the north side, along with a new hold room and queuing lanes on the south side.
Package 2: North Finger Modular Building Renovation and Canopy Additions
This package involved adding queuing lanes, exterior doors, and double ramps with canopies at each existing gate.
Package 2A: North Finger Modular Building Construction
This package entailed fabricating 36 new 52’x14’ modular units off-site and assembling them on-site to expand the existing North Finger modular building, creating space for five new airline gates.
Package 2B: North Finger Modular Building Interior Fit-Out and Canopy Additions
This package included interior fit-out of the new modular building, installation of toilet rooms, back-of-house utility and support spaces, new airline gates with queuing lanes, and addition of exterior double ramps and canopies at each new gate
