POP
POP is located in the Arts District on Santa Fe in Denver, an evolving eclectic neighborhood known for its strong arts influence and diverse neighborhood. The district is home to the Colorado Ballet, and provides easy access to downtown Denver, and the museum district via light rail connections at Osage and Colfax. The five-story building includes four levels of housing over two levels of parking with the main street activated by 9,600SF of tenant space. With a variety of unit sizes available, POP will have 123 market rate condominiums that range from micros, to one, and two-bedroom units, providing the opportunity for downtown living. Building amenities are primarily located at the second level with an expansive south facing courtyard, and fitness room.
Studio Completiva was asked to revise and revitalize the project given the strict yet cost-effective structural precast system being used. To revitalize the main street element of the project, the design team took into account that The Santa Fe Arts District is a vibrant pedestrian-oriented street. It hosts, galleries, coffee shops, co-working spaces, and annual festivals including Cinco de Maya, and First Friday. The design concept at the main level was to create a ribbon that mimics how pedestrians meander in and out of the street. The ribbon enables a variety of spaces where people can, stop for a break after gallery hopping, meet for dinner at one of the restaurants inside AURA, or have a drink at the outdoor bar, all through the pleasure of walking. Studio Completivahas actively engaged the Lincoln Park Neighborhood Association to show how POP will enhance the community through main street activation.
